Marketplace Policies
Effective date: 8 August 2026
These policies govern what may be listed on the Royouss Marketplace and what happens when a listing breaks the rules. They form part of our Terms of Service and sit alongside our Code of Conduct. Breaking these policies is breaking the Terms.
There are two of them: the Counterfeit Policy below, and the Prohibited Items list that follows it.
Counterfeit Policy
Counterfeit sale is the single biggest risk in designer-bag resale. It costs buyers money, it costs honest sellers their reputation, and it is a criminal offence in most places. This policy sets out what we prohibit, what we expect from you, and what we do when something is reported.
What we mean by counterfeit
A bag is counterfeit for the purposes of this policy if it is:
- a replica, copy, or knock-off of a designer bag, however it is described — including “1:1”, “mirror quality”, “super fake”, “unbranded”, “inspired by”, “dupe”, “factory”, or “AAA”;
- mislabelled as to brand, model, line, material, or year;
- misrepresented as to provenance — described as bought from a boutique when it was not, for example;
- a “franken-bag” assembled from the parts of different bags, or repaired with non-original components, without that being disclosed;
- accompanied by forged or mismatched authenticity cards, receipts, serial numbers, or date codes.
Advertising any of the above is prohibited even when the listing is honest about it. “Replica, buyer knows” is still a replica.
Dealing in counterfeit goods may also be a criminal offence — in Malaysia, where Royouss is operated, under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 and the Trade Marks Act 2019, with comparable laws almost everywhere else.
What Royouss does, and what it does not do
Royouss does not authenticate bags. We do not inspect items, we do not verify authenticity, we never hold or handle an item, and we are not a party to any transaction. Nothing on Royouss — a live listing, a completed sale, a good review, or a long seller history — is a statement by us that an item is genuine.
What we do is act on reports. When a listing is reported and we cannot stand behind it, we take it down. We do not, and cannot, tell you whether a particular bag is real. That judgement is yours, and the two sections below exist to help you make it.
If you are selling
- List only bags you own or are authorised to sell. Selling on someone else’s behalf must be disclosed.
- Photograph the actual item. Stock images, brand images, auction-house images, and photos of “one just like it” are not allowed.
- Describe the condition honestly and disclose every flaw you know of.
- Do not overstate what you know. “I believe this is authentic, bought pre-loved, no papers” is a good listing. “100% authentic guaranteed” about a bag you bought second-hand is not.
- Keep whatever proof of purchase you have, and share it when a buyer asks.
If you are buying
- Ask for more photos: date code or serial, hardware stamps, stitching, interior lining, base corners, and the underside of the strap.
- Use a reputable third-party authentication service when the price warrants it. On a four-figure bag it costs a fraction of the risk.
- Prefer traceable payment, meet in a safe public place, and confirm the item matches the listing before you hand over any money.
- Treat these as warnings: a price far below the market, pressure to move the deal off Royouss, and a seller who will not answer specific questions.
Reporting a suspected counterfeit
Use the in-app report flow rather than a public accusation. Calling someone’s bag fake in the comments is itself a Code of Conduct violation, and it makes the case harder for us to act on.
- A listing — open it, tap ⋯, then Report, then “Counterfeit or fake”.
- A post, comment, collection item, or profile — the same flow from that item’s ⋯ menu.
- Someone you are messaging — open the conversation, tap ⋯, then Report.
You can report a given item once. Reporting it again does not escalate it — reports from different members do.
What happens after a report
- The listing comes down if we cannot stand behind it. This is not a finding that the bag is fake. It is us removing something we are not in a position to verify, and it is deliberately not recorded as a violation against you.
- We keep a record. We track how many of a member’s items have been removed, how many different members reported them, and what we acted on.
- A pattern leads to a suspension. A member whose listings are repeatedly removed is suspended: the account is locked, and they cannot post, list, comment, or message while it stands.
- Carrying on after a suspension leads to permanent removal. A listing that openly advertises a replica can go straight to suspension without waiting for a pattern, because there is nothing for us to verify — the listing says so itself.
We look at the pattern rather than a single report, precisely because a single report can be mistaken or malicious.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, email support@royouss.com from the address on your account, telling us what was removed and why you believe the decision was mistaken. We read every appeal. A suspended account is shown this address in the app.
Rights holders
If you own a trade mark, design right, or copyright and believe a listing infringes it, email support@royouss.com with “IP complaint” in the subject line, and include:
- your name and organisation, and the right you own or represent;
- the registration number or other evidence of that right, and the territory it covers;
- a link to, or screenshot of, every listing complained of;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised;
- a statement that the information you have given is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the rights holder.
We act on complete complaints without undue delay, and we tell the seller that their listing was removed following a rights-holder complaint.
Prohibited Items
The Royouss Marketplace is for designer bags. This list is not exhaustive: if an item is not clearly a bag, or an accessory sold with a bag, assume it does not belong here.
What you can list
Authentic designer bags, and the accessories that come with a bag you are selling — straps, charms, dust bags, and authenticity cards — when they are sold with that bag.
What you cannot list
- Counterfeit and replica goods — anything covered by the Counterfeit Policy above.
- Authenticity cards, dust bags, receipts, boxes, or packaging on their own. Sold separately, these are the raw material for passing a fake off as genuine. They are welcome as part of a listing for the bag they came with.
- Exotic-skin bags without valid CITES documentation — crocodile, alligator, caiman, python, lizard, ostrich, and other protected species. These are restricted across borders and can be seized in transit whether or not the bag is genuine. If you hold the permit, say so in the listing and be ready to show it.
- Stolen goods, or anything you have reason to believe is the proceeds of crime.
- Bags sold on behalf of an undisclosed third party, and dropshipping of any kind.
- Weapons and ammunition, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, tobacco and vaping products, and alcohol.
- Currency, financial instruments, gift cards, vouchers, and cryptocurrency.
- Services, digital goods, rentals, group buys, pre-orders, and raffle or draw “spots”.
- Accounts, followers, likes, or reviews, and anything else that manipulates activity on Royouss or elsewhere.
- Recalled or unsafe goods.
- Human remains or bodily fluids, and live animals.
- Anything illegal to sell in the jurisdiction of either the buyer or the seller.
Reporting a prohibited item
Open the listing, tap ⋯, then Report, then “Prohibited item”. A prohibited listing is removed on the same basis as a counterfeit one, and the same pattern-based path to suspension applies.
