Code of Conduct
Effective date: 20 June 2026
Keep it gracious ❤️
Royouss is a welcoming space for all bag lovers — first-time pickups, lifelong collectors, casual fans, professional resellers, and everyone in between. To keep it that way, we expect everyone to follow four simple pillars. You agreed to these when you signed up. This document spells out what each one means in practice and what happens when someone breaks the rules.
This Code of Conduct is part of our Terms of Service. Breaking the Code is breaking the Terms.
The four pillars
1. Be kind and helpful to others
The bag world is full of strong opinions, big purchases, and personal taste. Disagreement is fine — meanness is not.
Do:
- Treat other members like a friend you bumped into at a boutique.
- Assume good faith. Most people are here for the love of the craft.
- Reply with curiosity (“What made you pick the Caramel over the Etoupe?”) before you reply with critique.
- Lift people up. Drop a 🎉 on someone’s first pickup, even if it isn’t your taste.
Don’t:
- Personal attacks, insults, slurs, or name-calling — including in DMs.
- Harassment, threats, stalking, or intimidation of any kind.
- Hate speech or discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, body type, income, or any other protected or personal characteristic.
- Pile-ons, brigading, or coordinating other members to attack someone.
- Sexual content directed at someone without their consent; any sexual content involving minors is an immediate ban and a referral to the appropriate authorities.
- Sharing graphic violence, self-harm, or anything designed to shock or distress.
2. Share advice and celebrate. Never shame or judge.
The whole point of Royouss is to share what we love and learn from each other. Critique is welcome — judgment of the person behind the bag is not.
Do:
- Share honest reviews, real wear-and-tear, and your actual experience — pros AND cons.
- Ask the community questions. (“Worth a second pre-loved Birkin in Togo, or jump to a different leather?”)
- Celebrate other people’s pickups, daily carries, and collections, even at very different price points to your own.
- Give constructive feedback about a bag (design, durability, quality, value).
Don’t:
- Shame people for their budget, their brand mix, the condition of a pre-loved find, or the fact that they’re new.
- “Gatekeep” — telling someone they aren’t a real collector, real enthusiast, or real customer of a brand.
- Body-shame, status-shame, or location-shame anyone (including in poll comments and DMs).
- Tell someone their bag is fake without evidence and the appropriate context — accusations of inauthenticity are serious. Use the Report flow instead of public callouts.
- Mock or screenshot another member’s posts, daily carries, or DMs to dunk on them outside Royouss.
3. No counterfeits, scams, or spam
Royouss is built on trust. Fakes, scams, and spam destroy that trust faster than anything else.
Do:
- Sell only authentic designer bags and directly related accessories on the Marketplace.
- Use photos of the actual item you’re selling — not stock images, not photos of “a similar one.”
- Describe condition honestly. Flag every flaw — small stains, corner wear, scratches, missing components. Buyers expect surprises; sellers who hide them get reported.
- Use traceable payment methods, meet in safe public places for meet-ups, and keep records of every step.
- Report listings, posts, and accounts that look suspicious — even if you aren’t the buyer.
Don’t:
- Post, sell, promote, advertise, link to, or recommend counterfeit, replica, “inspired-by,” “super-fake,” “1:1,” or knowingly mislabelled bags. This is an instant removal — and may also be a criminal offence under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 and the Trade Marks Act 2019 in Malaysia, with similar laws in most other jurisdictions.
- Run any form of scam — fake listings, fake reviews, fake offers, “deposit-and-disappear,” “switch-bag” swaps at meet-ups, off-app deposit redirects, or social-engineering DMs.
- Operate multiple accounts to manipulate polls, reviews, follower counts, or marketplace activity.
- Spam — repeat-posting the same content, mass-DMing strangers with promotions, dropping affiliate links unrelated to your bag, or pushing off-platform shops.
- Manipulate reviews on bag models, sellers, or buyers — including paid reviews, traded reviews (“I’ll 5-star you, you 5-star me”), retaliatory reviews, or coordinated review brigades.
- Impersonate another member, a brand, a celebrity, or any third party.
- Post content for the primary purpose of driving people to a different platform, group chat, or service.
4. Stay on topic and respect everyone’s privacy
Royouss is about designer bags and the lifestyle around them. Keep your content within that universe, and respect what other members choose to share — and not share — about themselves.
Do:
- Post about bags, related accessories (straps, charms, conditioning products), buying experiences, brand news, your collection, and adjacent fashion topics.
- Tag posts accurately so people can find what you’ve shared.
- Respect the visibility someone has set on a collection item — public means public, private means private, and screenshot-and-share of a private collection is not allowed.
- Ask consent before sharing identifiable photos of someone else.
Don’t:
- Dox. Don’t publish someone else’s full name, address, phone number, email, workplace, ID, family details, or any other personal information they have not chosen to share themselves.
- Share screenshots of private DMs publicly without the other person’s consent.
- Post the content of a member’s private collection (purchase price, receipt, serial number, etc.) anywhere on Royouss or outside it.
- Hijack threads with off-topic content — politics, religion, unrelated promotion — even when you feel strongly about the topic.
- Post sexually explicit content, graphic violence, gambling content, drug content, or anything else that doesn’t belong in a bag community.
- Use the Service to organise illegal activity of any kind.
A note on Marketplace conduct
The Marketplace is where most trust questions show up. A few extra reminders:
- Authenticate when in doubt. As a buyer, ask the seller for additional photos (date code, stitching, hardware, etc.) and use a reputable third-party authentication service when the price warrants it. As a seller, welcome those questions — they protect both of you.
- Honest condition descriptions. Use the condition options (Brand new / Like new / Lightly used / Well used / Heavily used) the way the buyer would understand them, not the way that maximises your asking price.
- Off-app transactions = off-app risk. Royouss is a bulletin board; we don’t hold funds, ship goods, or guarantee deals. Don’t agree to anything you wouldn’t agree to in person.
- Be responsive. If you list something, respond to genuine offers within a reasonable time. Ghosting buyers is a quick way to get reported.
- Mark sold items as sold. Don’t leave stale listings up to fish for messages.
- Keep haggling civil. Low offers are part of the game. Insults and pressure tactics are not.
How to report
If you see something that breaks the rules:
- Open the post, comment, listing, DM, or profile in question.
- Tap the more menu (3 dots) → Report.
- Pick the closest reason and submit. Add context where it helps.
- You can also Block the user to stop seeing them; we won’t tell them.
For urgent safety concerns — threats of violence, child safety issues, doxxing, or anything that needs an immediate response — also email support@royouss.com with the subject line “URGENT: safety concern” so we can prioritise.
We won’t share your identity with the reported user without your permission, except where a court order or law enforcement requires it.
What happens when rules are broken
We try to be fair and proportionate. The most common consequences, in roughly increasing severity:
- No action — sometimes a report doesn’t reflect a rule break, even if the content is uncomfortable.
- Warning — an in-app or email note explaining what crossed the line, with a link to this Code.
- Content removed — the post, comment, listing, or message comes down, sometimes with an explanation to the author.
- Feature limits — temporary restrictions on posting, commenting, DM-ing, or listing.
- Mute (community-imposed) — the account stays visible but its content is hidden from feeds and search for a period.
- Temporary suspension — the account is locked for a defined period (typically 1 to 30 days).
- Permanent ban — the account is closed, the user is barred from re-registering, and severe violations may be reported to the relevant authorities.
Some violations skip straight to the most severe outcomes — including but not limited to: selling counterfeits, scams that took money from another member, doxxing, threats of violence, sexual content involving minors, and impersonation accounts created to harass.
We may also take action on related accounts, devices, or payment identifiers when we have reasonable grounds to believe they belong to a banned user.
Appeals
If you think we got a moderation decision wrong, you can appeal once per decision.
- Email legal@royouss.com with the subject line “Appeal” within 30 days of the decision.
- Include the account, the action taken (e.g. “post removed,” “7-day suspension”), the date, and what you think we missed.
- A different member of the moderation team will review your appeal. We aim to respond within 14 days.
Appeal decisions are final.
A short word on AI-generated content
You can use AI tools to help draft text, edit photos, or generate ideas — that’s fine. What’s not fine:
- Generating fake “bag photos” for listings (your listing must show the actual item).
- Generating fake reviews, fake DMs, or fake screenshots of conversations.
- Generating impersonation content (photos, videos, voice clips) of real people, including other Royouss members, without their consent.
When in doubt: would a reader feel misled if they knew an AI made it? If yes, disclose it or don’t post it.
A short word on professional sellers
If you’re a professional seller (your seller_type is set to “professional” in More → Settings), the Code of Conduct still applies in full — and a few extra expectations come with the badge:
- Use clear, consistent listings so buyers know what they’re getting.
- Respond to inquiries promptly.
- Stand behind your authenticity claims.
- Don’t farm reviews or run promotional schemes that hide the commercial nature of the relationship.
Misuse of the professional-seller status (impersonation, fake “boutique” claims, undisclosed dropshipping of suspected fakes) leads to immediate suspension.
Why this matters
We want Royouss to feel safe and genuine. Every rule above exists because somewhere, sometime, someone took advantage of a community that didn’t have one. We’d rather lose a handful of accounts than lose your trust.
Thank you for keeping it gracious.
